This is the easiest pizza dough recipe and makes PERFECT pizza every time.  We love a classic soft dough that’s sturdy enough to hold a tonne of toppings, but still soft and springy. I love this recipe uses a full bag 1.5kg bag of bread flour, it saves all the measuring! We split our dough into four equal parts and freeze the remaining three, saving energy and time for meals later in the month.

WARNING: This makes a LOT of pizza dough. This recipe makes around 8 x 10-12″ pizza bases OR 4 x  HUGE 15″ pizza bases depending on how thin you prefer the dough!

Savvy Savings

This recipe is perfect if you are looking to save money too. At just £19p per 10″ pizza base. Considering a similarly sized pizza from the takeaway would cost at least £6, you can afford to go a tiny bit wild with the toppings!

The Secret To Amazing Pizza

I think there are three secrets to a good pizza. The dough, the sauce and the way it’s cooked. This is my favourite dough recipe, you can recreate my favourite sauce recipe here, but the cooking is also VERY important.

In pizzerias, they cook the pizzas in a super hot oven for a short period of time (around 6-7 minutes). It’s impossible to recreate the same environment without a pizza oven, so the second best thing is to cook for longer on a lower temperature.

My top pizza tip is to use a pizza stone, we have this 15″ one. We have a very minimalist kitchen and I try to avoid gadgets, but I LOVE our pizza stone! It preheats with the oven so it gives the dough an initial burst of heat that helps to puff up the crust. The ceramic nature of the stone distributes the heat evenly, and it also draws moisture away from the pizza help to avoid a soggy base, and because the ceramic retains the heat, it also keeps our pizza lovely and warm when it comes out of the oven! If you don’t have a pizza stone, you can recreate a similar effect by using an upside-down oven tray.
